Most would prefer that a) you stay healthy, both mentally and physically and not drive yourself nuts over it, and b) the quality of the book is better by not rushing it. If they want to get parts of it in advance, they can sign up for Patreon, which will both support you directly, and give them a fix. Because of what you're doing with Patreon, I don't think most will mind if it takes longer for the final book to be ready. On the whole, though, you have my apologies, and my promise that I will work as hard as I can to get you the best book I can as quickly as I can! However, I fully intend to roll right into III after I wrap II this time, which means we shouldn't have nearly as long a wait for book III, and hopefully book IV if I'm still loving the story as much when it comes time for that beast! There is a silver lining, though! For those of you keeping track, you know that I published A Blood of Kings earlier this year, which I owed to my fans for a very, very long time (not to mention my audiobook publisher). I know that's a REALLY long time to way, especially when I wanted to get it out before the end of Q1, but I have to balance several factors, including my mental health and my responsibilities to the 20+ authors and employees we have at Wraithmarked. With that in mind, I'm hoping to have the book wrapped around 250k before the middle of the year, with the release to come before the 2-year anniversary. I'm writing about 10k words a week right now, which is a really healthy pace for me, and I'm hoping we'll be near 50k words in by the time the New Year rolls around (though with parents coming into town next week, I can't say for sure).
